What to Expect When Getting Dental Veneers at Our Pearland Cosmetic Dentist Office

Here at our Pearland cosmetic dentist office, dental veneers are a rather routine procedure we complete. However, unless we have personally recommended veneers to you, you may not know what they are. In order to see whether or not they might be a good option for you, we have put together a guide explaining what veneers are, why our patients favor them, and what you may expect.

What Are Dental Veneers and Why Do People Need Them?

First and foremost dental veneers serve a purely cosmetic function. They are an ultra-thin and lightweight shell, typically made of porcelain that is placed over the natural teeth in order to create a whiter, more even smile, although we do offer other types of veneers as well.

If you have gaps in your teeth, chipped or cracked spots, staining, crookedness, crowding, or even dislike the shape or color of your teeth, then veneers might be right for you since they hide these imperfections. Veneers are an ideal solution for quickly improving the appearance of your teeth, as well as the confidence that stems from your smile.

The veneers procedure is simple, but it takes two visits to complete so it is helpful to plan accordingly.

At your first visit, we will shave down your enamel slightly to make room for your future veneers. Afterward, we then take impressions of your mouth and send them over to our dental lab so they can make custom veneers that fit comfortably over your natural teeth. To keep your teeth protected, we will provide you with temporary veneers until your permanent ones are ready.

By your second visit, we will have your new veneers ready and will place them over the teeth so we can thoroughly examine your mouth with them in position. At this appointment, we will evaluate your bite and ask your honest opinion in regards to how comfortable they feel. We will make any necessary adjustments before bonding them to your teeth with a special dental-grade glue.
